About the Author Over the last decade, David Downton has gained a reputation as one of the world's leading fashion artists. His classically elegant, yet highly contemporary images have been a strong factor in the resurgence of interest in fashion illustration. Having originally trained in graphics, David's natural ability with the human form, spontaneous approach and economy of line rapidly led to a hugely successful career working with, among others, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, V magazine, Chanel, Tiffany's New York, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harrods, TopShop, Lancôme and the V&A Museum.

David Downton is right up there with illustrators Rene Gruau and Kenneth Block! Great book for the lover of fashion illustration or the aspiring artist who wishes to study the technique of a genius! Loving this book.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not that Downton, but David Downton By tdb If you are a Downton fan, and no I'm not talking about Downton Abbey, then this is a must have book. Downton, in my humble opinion, is one of the most influential fashion illustrator, and once you view his work, you will understand. His work is minimal, yet so hard to replicate (I've tried believe me, I've tried), and that puts him into a league, which he deserves, all of his own. Okay, enough of the flattery. As for the book, full of illustrations, printed on a nice weighty stock, nicely oversized, and a treat to thumb through. It's a treasury of this illustrator's work.

Words alone can't describe David Downton's exquisite illustrations, nor the majestic muses who make up this sumptuous collection of over 150 portraits of the world's most beautiful women. Distinctive, contemporary beauties such as Dita Von Teese, Cate Blanchett and Linda Evangelista to timeless icons like Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Rampling and Carmen Dell’Orefice grace the pages of this elegantly designed and appropriately large-format monograph.Downton is the world’s preeminent fashion illustrator for over 15 years, and recognized internationally for his work with Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Chanel, Tiffany’s New York, Harrods, Lancome & the V&A Museum.
